Welcome to the 2nd Edition of the BDR MilSim Tournament

The tournament is based on the mission Excalibur by {BDR} Flipper, which reflects and simulates real SpecOps operations. The Blufor side plays as a S.A.S. squad (SABRE), while the Red faction play as Chedaki soldiers and militians. Aim of the Blufor is to collect as much information as they can, their task is not to engage and kill the enemies but to accomplish their objectives. The Redfor task is counter-interdiction, their duty is to control their territory, prevent enemy infiltration, guard their strategical areas, prevent the SAS to accomplish their mission, find and destroy the Blufor squad. Redfor have allied AI with patrolling and spotting purposes.

The winner is the team that scored a higher score during his turn as SABRE.

Background Info

General Background
2010. After the Chedaki (call sign REDS) invasion of Chernarus, former Russian colony, the democratic government , now on the brink of a civil war due to a rebellion of the Russian farmers still living in the country that provoked the Russian intervention, asked help from the NATO.
Before mobilizing the ground troops for a military intervention, the NATO needs information.
The S.A.S. Regiment has been encharged to recon the Chernarus area for intelligence.


Strategic Background
Team SABRE.
You have been encharged with a recon mission in the area occupied by REDs. Your mission is to collect intelligence on enemy’s military capacity, equipments and armory displacement. Once inside the enemy territory you are on your own. In case you are captured or killed the British Government will deny any involvment with you, as per protocol.
The REDs are alerted and for sure they are organizing counter-interdiction patrols to avoid enemy infiltration. You have to avoid unnecessary contacts as much as possible and to collect as much intelligence as you can. You have to report to the Command after completion of any of the objectives .


Situation in the Operational Area
Many civilians are still present in the Operational Area, although most of the civilian population fled the area and asked for political asylum the neighbor countries. The civilians still living in the area are most probably REDS sympathizers, so be VERY CAREFUL IN EXPOSING YOURSELF, as the civilians could signal you to the REDS counter-interdiction forces. If you have no choice you have the permission to shoot to kill armed or unarmed targets, as you have been trained for.
We have little information about REDs. What we know is that they occupied the zone about 40 days ago, so they had time to organize patrols and an adequate defensive plan.

Objective Details:

INTEL: BM-21 GRAD
The REDs have access to old weapon stocks from the former Soviet Union block. Although most weapons depots have been dismantled, many armories in Ukraine and Belarus are still present and unattended because they are considered obsolete from local governments. But obsolete does not mean innocuous. The dismantling has been committed to private agencies. The MI6 lost tracks of at least the content of six depots, but they have the suspect that arms trafficking may occurr. They think that some BM-21 GRAD intstead of being dismantled ended in the hands of a Red’s big boss, Maksim Valera.

Report to the Command any spotting of the above vehicles, we need to know if the REDS can use that fire power to behave accordingly.


Technical Procedure:
Once you localized your target (GRAD) you just have to point it with your Vector and hold it for 2 seconds, at this point you will have a hint displayed confirming the successfull spotting. One spotting is sufficient to complete the objective, all the spottings after the first one are achieved as extras.
You have to communicate (Radio command) the spottings to the Command for objective validation and to confirm that the objective was successfully accomplished.
In the Operational Area are present a total of x5 BM-21 GRAD, some of them in predefined random positions.


INTEL: AA
We need to know if the REDS have an active Anti Air defense system. In this case it’s crucial to know their fire power and location.
You have to report to the Command any spotting of anti-air equipment.


Technical Procedure:
Once you localized your target you just have to point it with your Vector and hold it for 2 seconds, at this point you will have a hint displayed confirming the successfull spotting. One spotting is sufficient to complete the objective, all the spottings after the first one are achieved as extras.
You have to communicate (Radio command) the spottings to the Command for objective validation and to confirm that the objective was successfully accomplished.
In the Operational Area are present a total of x3 AA, some of them in predefined random positions.

INTEL: Main Battle Tanks
In order to facilitate future ground operations it is important to know if the Reds have MBTs deployed in the area.
They probably have something coming from the weaponry captured to the CDF, plus other pieces previously recovered on the black market.
Report to the Command any spotting of MBTs.


Technical Procedure:
Once you have located the vehicle just point it with your rangefinder, when the center of the rangefinder will coincide with the middle of the vehicle for 2 consecutive seconds a hint will confirm your positive spotting. Just one positive spotting is enough to complete the objective, every extra spottings will give extra points.
Once you have spotted the first piece proceed to communicate with the command, using the appropriate radio control, in order to validate the target.
Throughout the area there are 5x operational MBTs, all in specific random positions.
(T-72A, T-55A, T-34\85)

INTEL: CAMELOT (High priority)
Staroye, Codename CAMELOT.
From our aerial surveys we know there have been recent movements of vehicles and troops. It is assumed the enemy set up a base camp in this location.
In this case, there will probably be pieces of the RED arsenal.
We need more details about the enemy's warfighting capabilities, report to theCommand ANY ELEMENT OF STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE YOU CAN IDENTIFY IN CAMELOT.


Technical Procedure:
Once you localized any possible strategic objective you just have to point it with your Vector and hold it for 2 seconds, at this point you will have a hint displayed confirming the successfull spotting. Once 5 elements have been spotted i twill be possible to call the Command (Radio) to confirm and validate the successfull obj achievement.

Occasional Objective: MORGANA - ACE OF HEARTS
Maksim Valera is on our target list, he is one of the four aces, the Ace of Hearts.

We have not heard from him since 2003, being so close to him is a really nice shot.
Maksim (codename MORGANA) is a Red’s Colonel very important for the regime, in fact, he is its main source of income from the export of NBC weapons in Eastern Europe.

-Born in the USSR on January 22, 1952.
-Enlisted in the Russian army in 1971, where he learned to fight
-He participated in the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan from 1975 until 1988 in a unit of Spetsnaz GRU.
-In February 1988 he and his unit are believed dead in a valley in northern Afghanistan after an ambush from the Mujahideen.
December-1988. The KGB catches him with 16 Mujahideen survived after an attack to a Russian base near the city of Qalat. He was accused of high treason and sent back to his country to stand trial. Never arrived in Moscow.
-1995. Makes its appearance in a propaganda video of IRA, which claimed an attack based on explosive Semtex to an English naval vessel carrying NBC weapons.
-1998/2001. The British government accuses him of having sold experimental NBC weapons stolen from the government to the terrorist regimes of Eastern Europe including the Chedaki.
-November 2001. Become Colonel of the Chedaki and makes its appearance at the helm of an attack on the border of Chernarus. Identified by the local Secret Services.
-2003. He is photographed by a reporter during a propaganda service on the Chedaki.

MORGANA is your opportunity target. He is a big boss so is better not to capture him alive …

Technical Procedure:
The objective is in CAMELOT (see objective INTEL: CAMELOT)
Once you have located the individual just be sure to point him with your binoculars (or vector) at the center of the binoculars (you can press space bar for a better visualization), hold it for 2 seconds, you will see a confirmation hint. Then communicate to the command (specific radio button) that you have located MORGANA. If the command give you permission to fire you can proceed. DO NOT SHOOT WITHOUT HAVING FIRST IDENTIFIED MAKSIM (Objective failed) .
Note: the spotting may be difficult as at distance it can be difficult to keep the center of the binocular exactly on the contact for 2 seconds. You should insist. This simulates the process of real identification (which is not easy from distance).



BREAK REDS INTERCOM (Hig priority)
The Reds are using a communication system consisting of radio links placed at strategic points in the region. The antennas were installed by the REDs in the last weeks of the conflict, so we do not know their exact position.
Our MI6 contact gathered a rough map (showed in the game map) of the radio links.
There are 4 antennas located in four different areas, your task is to recon that areas. To temporarily stop the Red Intercom just locate and destroy one of these antennas.
Interrupting the Intercom is OF PRIMARY IMPORTANCE for the success of future operations in enemy territory.

Technical Procedure:
Once an antenna is located in one of the four areas marked on the map proceed to demolish it with the explosives supplied. A small charge of C4 will be enough.


Occasional objective: MORDRED - 6 OF CLUBS

At the head of the patrol operations we think there is our old friend, Sasha Vazov (Call sign MORDRED), a Serbian disreputable, which has proven his ability in the field of martial arts already in Yugoslavia, Kosovo, Croatia, Slovenia and Chernarus.
Since he joined the Movement of the Red Star (RSM) in 1994, he dealt mainly with training, or more correctly psychological indoctrination, of the irregular Chedaki.
Prior to joining the ranks of the Reds in 1991 in Croatia, he earned the nickname of "BezduSan" (without heart) for demonstrations of little humanity against prisoners of war and civilian population, this photo was taken at that time.
He is a high-ranking member of RSM, and he is on the wanted list of MI6 from 2001, so if you spot him you have to contact ARTHUR.

He is not a priority target.

Technical Procedure:

Sasha Vazov is a human player. The Red faction may or may not select this slot (it is not mandatory to select the slot). The player has a Dog Tag (Item) in his inventory. When the dog tag is not anymore in Sasha's inventory (example, collected from the corpse) the objective can be convalidate by ARTHUR (radio button)

EXFILTRATION
Once you have completed your tasks, or when you think it is time, you must leave the area of ​​operations. You can choose one of these two extraction ways:
-Pass the northern border and go inside the territory controlled by NATO and CDF.
- FOB-ARTHUR. Head to the command tent, report directly to the Command and deliver personally the information collected in the mission.

Technical Procedure:
Simply the mission ends only after the SABRE team left the operating area and contact the Command (ARTHUR) (Exfil radio button). The team can Exfiltrate at the same time in both EXFIL point. All the SABRE survivor need to be inside.

Sasha Vazov is a Medic and have powered stamina

-The RedFor faction has several vehicles, among them a UH-1H. Only SCARECROW 1 and SCARECROW 2 can fly it.
-The RedFor have several amno depots in their territory (marked in the in-game map for the Red faction).
-The Redfor faction has special racks (present in all the ammunition depots) with a special function. It will be possible to select the targeting system of your assault rifle Aks-74p (Ironsight, Kobra, PSO, 192P).
ONLY this type of Ak can be used this way (all of its versions). FALCE and MARTELLO Squads are fully equipped with this type of rifle, militiamen instead have some likelihood that this weapon is generated randomly at the beginning of the game, so they too will have the possibility to choose the targeting system.

Appendix 1 - Infiltration types

In the Lobby it is possible, for the SABRE squad, to select the infiltration point.
Only the server admin can do it, so to avoid someone else can see the parameters, the admin will be a Sabre member, in this case the Reds do not know the insertion point of the S.A.S. Then he will logout from admin (after the start of the mission).
These below are the insertion points:

- On feet from the north. Field 076-109
You have entered the operational area, crossing the southern border of the territory under NATO /CDF control. You have camped at coordinates 076-109. You can select your targeting system and secondary weapon on site.

- On feet from the West. Field 026-076
You have entered the operational area from the west. You have camped at coordinates 026-076. You can select your targeting system on site.

- Insertion by sea from the East
Approach to the operating area via boat from the East. You can select your targeting system of the boat.

- FOB ARTHUR
2 Land Rover Defender are present in the FOB. otherwise walk from FOB Athur. You can select your targeting system in the tent. There is also a case for extra medical items.

Appendix 2: Customizable View Distance

You can select the visual distance from the crates where you select the targeting system (for SAS), and from the ammo box at the base (for the Reds).
The value is set from a minimum of 1500 to a maximum of 4500.

Appendix 3: Using the Ghillie Suit

SABRE 1 and 2 can wear a Ghillie Suit.
The two SAS will have the option of changing camouflage any time by using the scroll wheel, the procedure takes about 20 seconds, you will see a black screen while wearing the new uniform. You can return to the traditional DPM uniform using the same option (same procedure) at any time.
WARNING: To change the uniform is necessary to remove the backpack from your shoulders (ACE "Drop ruck" option).

Wearing the Ghillie affects your fitness, in fact you will get tired 6 times faster , in order to simulate the real dimensions/weight of the ghillie, this will prevent you from planning the entire mission wearing this special camouflage.

Appendix 4 - Detecting System

For all the duration of the game the team SABRE will be in enemy territory.
To simulate a completely hostile environment , ANYONE (Civil and Chedaki) who sight a SABRE team member will report to the Red Command.
All players Chedaki will see a warning by the command that will reveal the location and the approximate time of the SABRE sighted (150m maximum error, maximum delay 30sec). The reporting results in a string of text chat and a marker on the map.
Every couple of SABRE (see Appendix 1) will have its own marker, so the map can display up to 3 sightings.

The score will be displayed for all players at the end of the mission.

- (total 7 pieces, GRAD and AA NOT INCLUDED). 1 point for each piece located.
- If the obj is completed (5 pieces, radio button) 1 extra point

Break the Red Intercom (Priority)
- 6 points for completing the objective (needs confirmation, radio button)

Occasional Objective: ACE OF HEARTS
- 3 points for the correct execution (confirmed spotting and identification, radio button, confirmed killing)
- 1 point for incorrect execution (Target confirmed but not killed, target killed but not confirmed)

Occasional Objective: 6 of Clubs
- 1 point for objective completed

EXFIL
- If the SABRE team (all SABRE still alive) do not reach the extraction whitin the time limit the INTEL scores (GRAD, AA, CAMELOT) will be halved.
